REIKI
FOR HEALING & TRANSFORMATION
with Edith Griffin, Gillian Draleau, and
Jeannette Baummer
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "universal
life force," power that flows to us from the source
of eternal light. This power is available to us in abundance
at all times. Reiki channeling is an ancient healing art
that can help balance our energies, clear our emotional
blockages, and ease our pain and suffering. Reiki treatments
can restore us to a profound sense of our oneness with all
things, thereby strengthening our innate ability to heal
ourselves and others. Invoking the infinite power and love
of the Universe, the Reiki practitioner activates subtle
but powerful energies that help us move toward deep inner
wellness.
Reiki is an excellent complement to Western
medicine, helping us to prepare for or to recover from surgery,
promoting balance and harmony on the physical, emotional,
mental, and spiritual levels. It is both energizing and
relaxing. A single treatment can be very effective. However,
when a client receives Reiki on a regular basis over a period
of weeks or months, the healing power of the treatments
seems to deepen and strengthen, bringing about greater and
more stable improvements.
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on healing technique.
The person receiving Reiki remains fully clothed, either
sitting or lying down in a comfortable position. For those
who are uncomfortable with touch, Reiki can be administered
from a few inches above the body. During a session, the
recipient may feel the healing Reiki energy as warmth, as
subtle waves, or as soft pulses of energy. Usually the recipient
experiences a feeling of deep relaxation and peace. Clients
report feeling more balanced, centered, and focused, as
well as pleasantly energized after receiving reiki.

COUNSELING SERVICES
Sally J. Sacks, M.Ed., LMHC
We
all have histories that are rich with the answers to our
problems and challenges, if we can just dig deep enough,
and quiet our minds enough, to hear our own stories. The
different parts of ourselves tell these stories to us through
our behavior, thoughts, and emotions. Sally acts as an inner
guide to her clients, taking them deep within themselves
to a place they know quite well but may have forgotten about
long ago. With Sally, the journey is safe and nurturing,
insightful and profound, and helps people get to the root
cause of their concerns.
Sally takes an eclectic
approach to counseling: "Use what works, and have a
large bag of tricks!" Her specialties include relationship
issues (marriage, separation, and divorce), anxiety, depression,
obsessive-compulsive disorders, phobias, children, and adolescents.
She is the author of How to Raise the Next President,
a guide to raising happy, emotionally developed children.
She lectures and writes for web sites nationally and internationally.
She is a life coach, leads parenting support groups, and
provides telephone counseling in addition to in-person therapy
sessions.

HYPNOTHERAPY &
NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING
with Sally Sacks and Gillian Draleau,
Certified Hypnotherapists
Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation
where an individual becomes more aware and focused and the
subconscious mind is more susceptible to suggestions for
addressing issues such as smoking cessation, weight loss,
stress reduction, self-improvement, and overcoming anxiety,
fear, and phobias. Guided by a certified hypnotherapist,
you can be motivated to stop smoking, lose weight, or overcome
whatever you feel is stopping you from living your life
to the fullest.
The American Psychological Association
describes hypnosis as a cooperative union where the client
responds to suggestions for change initiated by a trained
and skilled hypnotist. In hypnosis, the conscious or critical
mind is gently put aside, and suggestions are skillfully
implanted in the subconscious mind while the client relaxes
in a trance-like state. This state is induced by the hypnotist,
yet the client is always in control. Contrary to popular
myth, hypnosis actually helps people to be more in control,
not less. Since change happens at the unconscious levels
of mind, hypnosis is highly effective as a tool to promote
change.

INTUITIVE COUNSELING
with Karen P. Short, LICSW
During an intuitive
counseling session, the goal is to assist the client in
identifying and accessing his/her intuition and developing
it for practical use in everyday life. Our inner wisdom,
or intuition, can provide us with the continuous guidance
needed to address our many questions and concerns, both
big and small. Each person's intuition is uniquely tailored
just for him/her and contains all the information necessary
to lead a fulfilling and peaceful life filled with love,
joy, and compassion. Karen makes use of many tools and techniques
during sessions with clients, including meditation, guided
imagery, Radical Forgiveness, and the Law of Attraction.
Intuitive counseling helps
to reduce stress, anxiety, worry, depression; increase
feelings of calm, relaxation, peace, and joy; strengthen
self confidence and feelings of self worth and self acceptance;
develop a deep sense of trust within yourself;
increase your ability to make confident decisions; develop
and maintain healthy relationships; reduce occurrences of
physical illness; heal issues of grief and loss; and create
the life you desire.
Karen has completed Levels I, II and III
of EMDR training. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing) is a powerful method of psychotherapy used
to accelerate healing by accessing the ability of the brain
to process and move past difficult traumatic and/or blocked
issues. To date, EMDR has helped approximately two million
people of all ages relieve many types of psychological distress.
It has been scientifically proven to be successful in the
treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety
and fear, depression, panic attacks, phobias, grief and
loss, abuse, stress, performance anxiety, and disaster experiences.

KABBALISTIC HEALING &
FAMILY CONSTELLATION WORK
with Molly Salans, LMFT, LICSW
Within the ideas of Kabbalistic
Healing is the understanding that there is a place of
wholeness that exists vibrantly within each of us. This
place has never been broken, and receives our brokenness
as Holy. When we are out of relationship with ourselves,
and we believe that our suffering is our only reality, then
this suffering creates more suffering. We then travel down
the dry riverbed looking desperately for what we want, and
our actions tend to be those that take us more and more
out of ourselves, creating yet more disconnection and brokenness.
Paradoxically, suffering itself can lead us back to wholeness.
A kabbalistic healing session consists of about forty
minutes of conversation and then a twenty-minute process
for the healing. During the session Molly holds this principal
of wholeness and chooses one of many Kabbalistic Healings
to give you. After a healing you will feel relaxed and,
during the week, at some point your body will register it
hashad a healing and will come back into balance. When this
happens, you will most likely notice some changes in your
energy and in the way you handle frustrating situations.
Our relationship with our
family of origin impacts our relationships with family,
friends, health, work, money, and more. Family Constellation
Work is a healing approach that allows one to witness
and step into an old relationship in order to see it with
new eyes. Are you stuck in the same habits and patterns,
and cant seem to get out from under no matter how
many intentions you make? Its likely that these habits
and patterns have their beginnings in your intergenerational
past. As babies, we were so filled with love and loyalty
for family that we took on all the good and the bad in order
to stay connected to our family of origin. Similarly, our
parents and grandparents loved their family so much that
they took on these negative patterns from their parents.
Thus, the patterns are passed down from one generation to
the next, until one member of the family decides to change
the pattern. A constellation taps into the energy field
of the family, revealing these unwanted patterns that were
created out of love and loyalty. Using figurines, you, the
client, present an issue to Molly, and as you together enter
the family energy field, the resolutions are found, and
the negative feelings are softened. By acknowledging what
is - both the good and the bad - you are held in the
healing field of the constellation. As a probable result,
you will see your family members with new eyes and experience
more freedom and love both with loved ones and within yourself.

INTEGRATED ENERGY THERAPY (IET)
with Sally Sacks, Master Energy Therapy Practitioner
Emotions are stored in the
body and can be stuck in your energy field causing you to
feel depressed, anxious, held back, or simply unbalanced.
IET targets specific problem areas where emotions such as
anger, guilt, fear, or shame are blocked, and releases that
blocked energy through gentle touch. Sessions are insightful
and relaxing, and can be done in person or remotely. Integrated
Energy Therapy is a great addition to psychotherapy,
massage, and other holistic healing modalities. Read more
about it at the Integrated Energy Therapy web
site.
ACUPUNCTURE
with Judy Kloc, Licensed Acupuncturist
Acupuncture is based on a
system of meridians or energy pathways discovered in the
body over 3,000 years ago. Very thin sterile needles are
inserted into acupuncture points along these meridians to
address problem areas and bring the whole body into balance.
Most people are surprised by the thinness of the needles
and how comfortable they are when inserted. Acupuncture
has been shown to be effective in treating many conditions
including pain (arthritis, migraine, neurological, repetitive
strain, etc.), stress and anxiety, chronic illness, digestive
disorders, respiratory issues, women's health problems,
and more.
There are many different
styles of acupuncture such as Traditional Chinese, Japanese,
Korean, Scalp, Ear, Wrist/Ankle and Dr. Tan's Balance Method,
to name a few. They are all effective methods of treatment.
These many options allow a practitioner to tailor the treatment
to each person's needs. Typically an acupuncture treatment
is done one-on-one in a private room over a 50- to 60-minute
period of time. However, some styles of acupuncture, such
as auricular (treating only the ears), can be done in a
group setting and in a shorter time. A new option now offered
at Karendyth is the Acupuncture Happy Hour. It is a 30-minute
seated ear acupuncture treatment focused on helping participants
to relax, re-charge, and re-energize in a quiet, peaceful
group setting at a reduced price.

index, etc.), to improve cellular functioning. She recently
expanded her services to include Detoxification Foot Bath
treatments, in which the client relaxes for half an hour
listening to soft music, with her/his feet soaking in warm
water that is specially treated to gently draw toxins from
the body, leaving the client feeling calm, refreshed, and
energized.

EVOLUTIONARY HEALING SESSIONS
with Laura Feldman
We each come into this world
filled with innocence and with unlimited human potential.
As young children, we freely express who we are and we have
a huge capacity to trust. Over the course of our lives,
unpleasant life situations and traumas create filters that
tend to limit our perceptions, while prolonged exposure
to negativity may cause energy blocks that create imbalances
in our once-healthy systems. Imbalances may manifest in
our physical bodies as illness or dis-ease; in our emotional
bodies as feelings of guilt, shame, and resentment; in our
mental bodies as thinking we are unworthy or not enough;
and in our spiritual bodies as feeling lost or stuck in
a life without joy. An effective way to bring back balance
and our "spark" is through energy work. A healing
session with Laura will help you discover the root cause
of symptoms and work to clear the patterns and related issues
causing distress. Removing the limitations from your past
will allow you to live with more joy in the present
because "now" is all we truly have.
In Laura's words, "It
is always a divine privilege for me to work with another
person's energy field, therefore, my work is nurturing and
filled with integrity, gratitude, and honor. Of utmost importance
to me is for each client to feel supremely safe." Laura
will use whatever tools are most appropriate to assist you
in moving forward to heal. She will help clear any blockages
and patterns that present themselves as ready to clear.
Nothing can ever be released unless you are ready for it
to go; she will never force anything. Each session is as
unique as each individual; therefore, she does not use one
"standard session structure." Sessions are available
in person or by telephone, by appointment.

CHI KUNG & TAI CHI FOR HEALTH
with Sifu Andrea Sheffield
Chi Kung and Tai Chi are
ancient health and healing arts that originated in China.
Chi Kung incorporates controlled breathing with corresponding
gentle movements to release and move "chi" or
"vital energy" throughout the body. The development
and movement of chi aids the body in its ability to heal
itself, boost immune system function, reduce stress, and
create balance and well-being physically, mentally, and
emotionally. Tai Chi, simply an advanced form of Chi Kung,
incorporates all the same principles, putting more movements
together to create a routine or "form." Although
the techniques of Chi Kung and Tai Chi intrinsically have
martial/self defense applications, our focus in this class
will be on the health benefits associated with the practice
of these arts.
